IntelBroker, Others Breach Cisco

IntelBroker, a hacker notorious in cybersecurity circles, said that he (and others) breached Cisco back in October and obtained certificates, credentials, confidential documents, encryption keys and other types of information.

Security Week’s article says, however, that Cisco said that the data was obtained from a public development environment, and some files were inadvertently posted there due to a configuration error, and posted an update on December 26th reinforcing that message.

The news still serves as a reminder that no firm is off limits for criminals; make sure that any potential entry points into your IT environment are limited, and ensure that you have a robust cybersecurity program in place.
